The journey to the international trade skills competition “WorldSkills” involves hard work. The standards of the competition are “very, very high,” says Stefan Wachter. He should know. Apart from instructing apprentices at Ivoclar Vivadent, he is in charge of preparing all the IT networks and systems administration candidates from various Liechtenstein businesses for the WorldSkills competition.
“It’s always exciting to see how quickly young people can attain a world champion standard in their professional field,” says the 47-year-old instructor. As a WorldSkills expert, he is responsible for the preparation phase, which takes several months. He helps with the competition assignment and ensures that everything runs smoothly on location. In 2019, the competition will be held in Kazan, Russia. Team building and mental skills training are an important component of the preparation phase. In the past, four apprentices from Ivoclar Vivadent have distinguished themselves with their outstanding performance at the competition. Stefan Wachter’s expertise and commitment play an important part in promoting the transfer of knowledge to his pupils. His dream: a medal for Liechtenstein.
